Can You Trust Your AI?
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is your AI bullshit detector.
Way, way, back I was doing a round of interviews. Hiring the best and the brightest for a new division I was building at a manufacturing company that was old, old. They had their way of doing things. I was expected to fail in this new venture and many of the old-timers gave me the side-eye.
I had a stack of paper resumes on my desk, literally, about a foot high. Feeling overwhelmed, I sprinted to the HR Department (yes, they had one) and asked how the hell was I suppose to hire anyone. Who could I pick? How should I pick?
The old HR guy just looked at me and said, “Just hire someone that you’d feel comfortable having a beer with”.
Ok. I get it. Try and find people you trust and that you feel comfortable working with. It’s not the best hiring advice ever dispensed. In fact, it’s a crappy way to build your team. But it did get me to thinking about trust.
Trust is a critical component in all relationships. Can I trust you to tell me the truth? I don’t need a parrot squawking back a replay that paraphrases my thoughts. I don’t need a yes-man or yes-woman. I need to be able to rely on your response and input.
