Our journey creating an AI that serves up knowledge when it’s needed
When we set out to build bundleIQ, we wanted to create a companion that delivered insightful information to users while they work. Inspired by Grammarly, an AI assistant that helps creators write better, we wanted bundleIQ to help users think better.
Easier said than done.
We didn’t realize how difficult it would be to predict what a user might need at any given moment, but we’ve been committed to the cause because we recognize how much people struggle to access knowledge when they need it.
Knowledge workers spend way more time than they should searching, organizing, and asking — Sixty plus percent of the workweek, to be exact.
When thinking about a typical workday, how much time would you say is spent on inefficient work?
You know a particular document exists somewhere because someone shared it with you via email, but you can’t remember the title or enough relevant keywords to retrieve it. Maybe someone asks a question you should know the answer to, but you’re reluctant to answer because you can’t remember. Instead, you end up searching or having a back-channel conversation to suss out the answer for yourself. It happens to the best of us.
IQ, the AI assistant we created, puts the intelligence in bundleIQ.
For Example
Today, IQ is available in two forms: an assistant to your note-taking and a helper inside Gmail. You can expect the experience to go something like this. As you’re composing an email, imagine you have a small icon at the bottom of the editor with a notification appearing in a little red box. It’s telling you, hey Michael or Maria, there are four pieces of content here that you might want to check out relevant to your work.
You click on the icon to see a note written some weeks ago. It’s a memo from Susan saying, “Remember to add so and so to the new insurance policy before the month’s-end.” This note from Susan may have just made your month because you totally forgot. Now, you get to reply confidently, knowing you provided excellent service to your customer, all the while putting yourself over the monthly quota (reference image above). That’s IQ.
